Nayrok Udab is, in a word, “explosive”. This Dallas native has anointed the music world with a new genre of music. She calls it “hoodrok”. What is “hoodrok” you ask? “Hoodrok”, is a combination of rok and hip-hop with an alternative twist. Along with her five-piece band known as “7 on Soff”, Nayrok has blessed many stages. The Black Lilly in Philadelphia, where Nayrok’s a crowd favorite and the Annual Heritage Festival in Alabama, where shi opened for Musiq Soulchild just to name a few. Nayrok has also toured with her big sis on the Mama’s Gun Tour. You name it, Nayrok’s done it!! And she’s done it in Atlanta, D.C., New York, Canada and Japan. Nayrok’s also been in four nationally distributed music videos and a national GAP ad that can be seen on billboards in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles and Houston.
Born and raised in Dallas, TX Nayrok has always defied what is “normal”. Her birth name (Koryan) spelled backwards in “Nayrok”. Which provides even more evidence, as if you need more, that she was destined to rule the Rok world! “Udab” was added to explain the total flipside of her platinum, Grammy-award winning sibling. Because though the resemblance is unmistakable, their music styles are far from being related. Nayrok exemplifies the Essence of Rok! Every show is ended with her motto, “Love Hard Live Hard and Rok Hard”.And after seeing her stage performance, forgetting Nayrok will be the hardest!! |
