Inspector
Inspector is a perfect blend of ska, reggae, 60’s rock n’ roll nostalgia and the great romantic bands of the 70’s. A deep and captivating voice with lyrics which talk about intense love and the loss of it, souls dancing on fire and flaming hearts that
ultimately fuse into a party of Unity, Beer and Ska (Unidad, Cerveza y Ska). Title and essence of Inspector’s new album.

The band that with mastery and intensity fuses classic Jamaican rhythms with a popular Mexican feeling and which arrived on the artistic scene as the most promising and exciting group of the last couple of years, present us with their latest work, which further proves why they are the masters of romance belonging to a generation which fuses styles and tastes.

Inspector specialize in the fusion of classic Jamaican rhythms with the popular Mexican feeling and from the beginning of their formation in their native Monterrey, in November 1995, their signature mark has been to make great music and have fun.

A few years later, Inspector not only managed to reach those goals, but also to receive a series of prestigious nominations and national and international awards, which put them at the center of attention throughout Latin America, Spain and the United States. Alma en Fuego, their debut album with a multi-national record label, reached platinum status in Mexico and extraordinary sales in the U.S. where Amargo Adios is still being heard on radio stations of varied genres. It represents a beautiful song, which turned into a Universal Hit.

The years 2002 and 2003 were very outstanding for Inspector. You can say that they never unpacked their suitcases because they never stopped traveling from south to north, east to west of Mexico, U.S., Puerto Rico, Central America and part of South America, in a tour consisting of more than 200 concerts. A special mention is due to the traditional festival Rock al Parque, held in Colombia where over 150,000 people gathered in unison to sing Inspector’s hits. As well as their shows at el Zócalo in Mexico city, where more than 200,000 people gathered to witness the concerts which would without a doubt consecrate the group as one of the most important of their genre.

Unidad, Cerveza y Ska,title of their new album has been Inspector’s war emblem since their initiation, and in three words defines the style of life of the band, as well as its public who admire and identify with them.

Unidad, Cerveza y Ska is an album which reaffirms Inspector, taking them to new heights within the realm of Mexican sound, while making them one and only among the diverse ska bands throughout the world which have claimed public attention and international critical acclaim. It is a great fusion of classic ska in english with Jamaican rhythms, all in conjunction with that Mexican flavor which has managed to transport its listeners to the large 50’s dance halls of Mexico City due to the style of its metals, the effects of the trumpet and the distinctive nature and warmth of Big Javi’s voice. A sound that is elegantly coarse, melancholy in some songs, happy and melodic in others

This album has everything for everybody. The band remains loyal to the style which took them to conquer a massive audience, as well as an album of greater quality in terms of sound and interpretation. Unidad, Cerveza y Ska contains 13 new tracks and was recorded in the best present day studio in Mexico -- El Cielo, in Monterrey – once again under the production of Homero Ontiveros, keyboardist, as well as one of the composers of the band. The album went on sale on March 16, 2004 in Mexico and the United States, simultaneously followed by the rest of Latin America and Spain, a few weeks later.

The album starts with Ska Voovee Boobie Baby, which in its day was a legendary ska phrase of the 60’s. This song uses a very mischevious and fun way to describe the adventures of a character that from top to bottom, bottom to top follows the curves of a beautiful woman… running into the great risk of losing an eye or even his own life. It is the first single off this great album which contains exquisite songs, such as Luna, Cómo te extraño, No piensa en ti, Tony Montana and Alma en fuego, which was the song used to end the album, as well as the title of their previous album.
¡Now hit the dance floor!
