SXSW 2005 Showcasing Artists

Shooter Jennings
Raised on the road, Shooter grew up with visions of his father and mother, Jessi Colter, singing about real life on an endless string of one-night shows. After high school he settled in L.A., earned clubland notoriety as leader of the band Starrgun, and even subbed for Axl Rose at a couple of Guns N' Roses concerts. Ditching his rock persona, he put a new group together and cut Put the "O" Back in Country as a declaration of war against the flaccid state of the music he loves. Hailed by Todd Sterling of Country Review for "having the same soulfulness in his voice as his late father," Shooter is on a mission to rock every house he plays and kick the carcass of country back to life.
