AYO

|
The lady's name is AYO. The name is Yoruba and means "Joy".
Ayo's undeniable talent is further brightened by the light that emanates from her woman-child face. Ayo, cultural heritage makes her all the more special: her father is Nigerian and her mother is a Roumanian Gypsy. Her guitar playing is influenced by her Gypsy blood, and her tone and songwriting is definitely infused with African spirits. Her sound remains mainstream and can be defined as acoustic soul Ayo sees herself as a simple girl with simple songs. She is a story-teller, who perpetuates the oral traditions of most African cultures. She offers a stripped down, very organic sound where each instrument punctuates her songwriting and enhance her voice and guitar. Starting with the Hamburg underground music scene, AYO soon creates awareness in the London and Paris music lover circles. AYO's various stays in Paris have opened doors to the French entertainment world and press. In London, Ayo's performances have created a slew of requests for her to lend her voice and charisma as a featured guest on various projects. The buzz is growing bigger as the world keeps talking about this charismatic presence (she is 6' tall). AYO continues to marvel us with her voice, guitar (and piano), and her freshness. Ayo will be releasing her first LP in 2005 through Big Bang Gang/Polydor/Universal France. |
