The Warlocks

Formed in 1999, The Warlocks’ story is already the stuff of near-legend; a swamp of classic songs, record deals signed in blood and ever-changing personnel. The Warlocks now have a settled line-up to achieve their aims. They are Bobby Hecksher guitar; lead vocals ; JC Rees; guitar; Corey Lee Granet; guitar; Laura Grigsby; tambourine & organ; Jason Anchondo; drums, and latest additions-- Jenny Fraser; bass; and Bob Mustachio; drums.
There have been two albums: the sprawling debut Rise And Fall (Bomp) and Phoenix (Birdman/Mute); both of which have received universal acclaim for their mantra-like song structures and for their hazy reappraisal of psychedelia for the 21st century. Where others daydream of recreating the warped mood of Warhol’s Exploding Plastic Inevitable, or the ragged glory of The Stones’ Beggars Banquet, The Warlocks provide the full-blown nightmare. Now, recently signed to a worldwide deal with Mute, The Warlocks are finishing up a new album with producer Tom Rothrock (Beck, Foo Fighters) to be released later this year. |
