SXSW 2005 Showcasing Artists

Jesse Harris
Jesse Harris is a Grammy-award winning songwriter. His songs, Don't Know Why, along with 4 others he wrote appeared on Norah Jones multi-million selling album, Come Away With Me.

Jesse and his band, The Ferdinandos - which features Kenny Wollesen on drums, Tim Luntzel on bass, and Tony Scherr on guitar - have been playing to packed clubs on the NYC music scene for several years. Establishing The Living Room (a popular East Village club known for showcasing singer/songwriters and indie rock performers) as their home base helped the band to gain an eclectic and enthusiastic audience.

The musical dialogue between these four incredibly talented musicians speaks directly to lovers of great music. Each artist brings a unique voice drawn from a broad range of musical backgrounds.  The result is an extraordinary and gratifying musical experience. The rhythm section (Jesse, Tim, and Kenny) creates the base on which the songs are built, Tony’s guitar solos float above the melodies and often cause a ‘jaw-dropping’ effect among listeners, and Jesse’s vocals add the quirkiness that makes these songs instantly recognizable.  Flaunting a style rooted in rock, with a hint of alternative country and jazz, their music appeals to fans of The Band, Lyle Lovett, Shawn Colvin, Neil Young, Pete Yorn, Norah Jones and many more.

Jesse's debut for Verve/Blue Thumb records in May of 2003, The Secret Sun, received rave reviews and took him on a tour all around the world.

His most recent album, While The Music Lasts, was released worldwide in June, 2004. It features guest performances by Norah Jones, Bill Frisell, Van Dyke Parks and others.

Jesse is currently finishing a new album with Kenny Wollesen on drums and Larry Klein on Hammond organ. The legendary Terry Manning is enginering and mixing.
