BONNIE PINK Singer/Song Writer

BONNIE PINK was born in Kyoto, Japan and made her sensational debut in 1995 with her 1st album "Blue Jam." FM stations nationwide began to air BONNIE's music, receiving critical praise.

Then she released "Heaven's Kitchen" (selling 400,000 copies) in 1997, "evil and flowers"(500,000 sold) in 1998, which was produced by Swedish-pop producer, Tore Johansson. The following year, she met Mitchell Froom best-known as a producer for Elvis Costello, Chibo Matt, Suzanne Vaga etc, and co-produced "Let go" with Froom
in LA. 2001 saw her release of her 5th full album "Just a Girl."

The single "Tonight, the Night" released on January 22, 2003 was produced by Tore Johansson and BONNIE PINK. This song reached No.1 at many FM stations across the country and was a major hit.

Her latest Album entitled "Even So" marks her 7th album, and was released May 12. It reunites her with Tore Johannson and is one of her strongest efforts as a "singer-songwriter".

BONNIE PINK, is currently one of Japan's strongest female rock singer/songwriters in a country not known for such a thing. Blessed with a keen ear for melody and a voice that hints at Suzanne Vega, Chrissy Hynde, and Alanis Morissette but ultimately remains her own, BONNIE PINK has gone on to attract worldwide acclaim and the attention of producers including Tore Johhansen (the Cardigans) and Mitchell Froom (Suzanne Vega).

BONNIE PINK is a talented pianist, guitarist, songwriter, and producer to boot. What makes her stand out from other Japanese artists is not just that charming girl-next-door quality. Rather, many of her songs are written and performed in English. True, sometimes the lyrics sound a bit awkward, but it certainly makes more sense to English-speaking fans than other English-featured lyrics in J-pop.
She speaks and sings fluent English and writes some really meaningful lyrics. (and sings with the cutest Japanese accent!)
This is not typical J-Pop.....this shouldn't be lumped together with all the other J-Pop out there. This is so much more. Bonnie moves easily through any genre of music and clearly makes it her own with a pleasant voice and skillful instrumentation.

You may have unknowingly heard a song of hers before. Have you ever wondered whom that beautiful voice interpreting the ending theme, " ItŐs Gonna Rain" (released In 1997), in the successful animated series "Rurouni Kenshin" belonged to? Even if this not a personal favorite of mine, it was a great addition to the show and a great way to reach more fans.
