Sure, Elvis Costello was awesome. In the beginning The Clash were almost untouchable. Johnny Thunders. Eater. The Sex Pistols. The Jam. Buzzcocks. There's a deep blood that flows through all their veins which very few bands prior to THE ENDS have successfully tapped directly into. Nailed down, it sounds perfect. It's mid-tempo, ultra catchy, intelligent, boisterous punk rock that sounds as great as it did when a needle touched the first piece of punk rock back in the late '70s.
By listening to "Concrete Disappointment", you'll understand that this record isn't a revival, neither are THE ENDS. They're both bonfires far from being doused! |
