Numbers are Eric (ex-Xerobot), Dave (ex-Xerobot),and Indra (also of Dynasty), a rock'n'roll trio formed in the fertile post-wealth post-rave San Francisco dot-bomb underground. They play fast primal punk disco beats, while trading detached boy/girl vocals back and forth amidst intermittent bursts of noisy guitar and fuzzed-out buzzerk bass. They cite influences (No Wave, Gang of Four, Kraftwerk, Wire) that sound typical enough, but Numbers chew these up and spit them back out in a musical manner that's all their own. "I don't think there's ever too much dance music," says drummer Indra, and we'd have to agree.
