After finishing out a successful 2004, The Things have a lot to look forward to in 2005, what with a new management deal and the South by South West music convention this coming March. The Things will also be releasing their limited edition, debut 7"EP on respected US punk label, Big Neck Records, just in time for SXSW. In just over two years together, The Things have been bringing their brand of sleazy rock'n'roll to a much larger scale audience. Things took of quite fast for these five Dublin born social misfits, with their first few shows being along side BP Fallon & Alan McGee with their touring Death Disco. Death Disco took The Things to some of the country’s largest and best-known venues and even as far as McGee's prestigious Notting Hill version of the club. Since then The Things name and popularity has grown and grown, with headlining shows of their own throughout the Emerald Isle. Even now their ever popular monthly club Psychotic Reaction is becoming not only a must see but something of a must play for not only bands in the UK and Ireland but through out Europe. Along with all this The Things high-profile supports are something to take note of - The Rapture, Thin Lizzy, The Damned, The Raveonettes, The Fall, SLF, British Sea Power, The Warlocks, Babyshambles, The Rakes, Har Mar Superstar and Peaches to name a few. From a successful night and last years Trinity ball and an amazing show to over 2,000 spectators in the New Band tent at last years Oxegen festival, The Things finished out the year with high profiled sell-out shows in not only their home town but in London’s Barfly club and some of Berlin’s hottest night spots. Recording wise, The Things spent some time in the studio recording demos for Sony UK, as part of a development deal. They have also spent a considerably amount of time working with producer Leo Pearson (U2, Elvis Costello). Recently The Things have just finished their self recorded and produced debut 7”EP, which is due out in the US this coming March on Big Neck Records. The coming months are very important for the Things, what with new management, the EP release, trips to New York, Texas, New Jersey and a tour of Ireland and the UK in the making.
