Mixing early 80s pop razzmatazz with a punk rock sensibility they have ripped up stages all over the UK and their native Norway mainly down to Miss Mariann, their manic front woman who has a penchant for ultra bright and ultra tight catsuits. The band has toured the UK and US with The Killers.
Excerpt from a The Killers review: The most enjoyable band of the evening was opening act Surferosa. The Norwegian band's name is inspired by the Pixies, but it cranked out tuneful, buzzing power-pop with shades of Blondie and The Cars. Initially, the too-cool audience would only bob heads - but singer Mariann Thomassen, clad in a black- and-white bodysuit, mocked and charmed the crowd until it began pogoing in place. Was Surferosa the most original band in the world? No, but anyone who straps on a keytar and plays a song called "Neon Commando" should probably be held to a different standard. |
