Skeletons

Skeletons' out-pop has been shape shifting since the release of their debut on Shinkoyo in early 2004. Beginning as a solo project with in-studio help from a eclectic cast of collaboraters (classically trained trombonists, punk rock drummers, junkyard boy's choir), Skeletons has outgrown its teen-age and settled comfortably into its adult body. Main-man Matt Mehlan has been busy-busy-busy ever since, recording two full length albums, an EP, and touring twice with a now full-time band. As a co-founding member of the collective-minded Shinkoyo records, the Skeletons project retains many principles of that label - collaboration, experimentation, and unpredictability. Records and live performances fling pop hooks, dark world-beat funk, gorgeous-but-creepy balladeer moments, and everything eroding into intimate vocal mantras and grotesque moments of noise. An exciting new alliance with the Ghostly International label and the limited edition release of "I'm at the top of the world" (Shinkoyo) and the upcoming opus "git" (Ghostly Int'l/Shinkoyo), really gives us the jitters for Skeletons in 2005.
