Jorane
Genre: Pop Hometown: Montreal QC
www.jorane.com
Jorane is a multi-talented French-Canadian (Québécoise) artist making her American debut on Six Degrees Records this spring. This cellist & vocalist with 4 releases under her belt in Canada and Europe, has already redefined herself many times over, thus making her impossible to categorize. She is as comfortable in classical settings as rocking out in a festival stage, or emoting in an intimate nightclub. She seamlessly floats between English, French and her own "jabberwocky" in her many self-written tunes. Her cover of Donna Summer's timeless classic "I Feel Love" is parallel non par. For The You and The Now, produced by Michael Brook (Jane Siberry, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Brian Eno) Jorane was joined by both countryman Daniel Lanois (U2, Emmylou Harris, Peter Gabriel) and fellow enigmatic singer-songwriter Lisa Germano (John Mellencamp, Simple Minds, Indigo Girls.) Listen to what this sometimes violently passionate artist has to offer this spring when Six Degrees Records releases her American CD, The You and The Now on March 29.
