Dan Israel has certainly taken the long road. At age 33, the critically acclaimed roots-pop singer-songwriter and winner of the 2004 Minnesota Music Award for Best Folk/Acoustic Artist just released his 7th disc, "time i get home." After stints in Austin and Chicago, he settled in his hometown of Minneapolis, where he's usually backed by the Cultivators. Through his traveling and striving, his music continues to highlight an original, even defiant, voice - one that also unabashedly wears his many influences (including the Jayhawks, Freedy Johnston, and Westerberg) on his sleeve. So yeah, it'd be nice if somebody would offer him a nice indie label or publishing deal.
