Thomas Denver Jonsson presented groundbreaking European americana with his debut LP "Hope
to her" in late 2003. Americans and Europeans finally found it necessary to embrace the message of an artist not coming from the USA or UK. They welcomed Thomas sweetly Swedish blend of alt.country, lofi and indie rock and 2004´s release First in Line EP (feat. the duet with Rosie Thomas) was a confirmer that Thomas wasnt a one-hit-wonder, instead that he have a lot more to give. Now, Thomas is in the studio again recording his followup-album, up to be released in first half of 2005. Thomas will also do heavy European touring and is invited to play at the SXSW in Austin in mid-March, which will be his first US show ever. 17 MAR - SXSW Day Stage, Convention Centre, Austin, TX (US) 4.30PM 18 MAR - SXSW 2005, The Drink, Austin, TX (US) 9PM 19 MAR - Antone's Records (in-store appearance), Austin, TX (US) 4.30PM The reviews: (4/5) - Uncut (UK) (8/10) - Americana UK (UK) (4½/5) - Altcountrytab (UK) (7/7) - Groove (N) (7/10) - Sonic (S) (5/5) - NWT (S) "These five tracks just further my belief that he’s the real deal, a special artist who’s just waiting to find his audience." - Jambase (US) " He takes the fine craftsmanship of Dylan and mixes it with the sly cunning wit of Van Zandt and delivers it with Parson’s compassion making him a highly marketable asset." - Rootshighway (US) "Swells of Neil Young peak as the album opens up, and hints of Will Oldham and Gram Parsons surface without overwhelming Jonsson's sweetly downhearted style. - Miles of Music (US) ... speaks for themselves. Let´s face the facts. If Americans compares a Swede with such icons as Young, Parsons, Dylan, Van Zandt and Oldham either the world is gone wrong or the kid´s great. You´re the one to decide, but don´t miss this for the world. www.thomasdenver.com |
