Evening Events at SXSW Interactive

A full schedule of exciting evening events helps make the SXSW Interactive Festival special and unique. The informal nature of these evening events make them very conducive for brainstorming new ideas, making new connections, or just relaxing with interesting people who share similar interests.

SXSW Interactive Festival evening events are free to SXSW Interactive, SXSW Gold and SXSW Platinum badgeholders.

SATURDAY, MARCH 12

Handshake Happy Hour

Milkshake Media and Handwire once again join forces for an unforgettable Handshake Happy Hour. Join us for refreshments, music, silly surprises and -- of course -- loads of Cheetos for the orangest handshakes at all the other parties. The Lucky Lounge is just a short walk from the Austin Convention Center: walk west on 5th Street (away from the freeway), just past Congress.

The Official SXSW Interactive Festival Opening Party occurs on Saturday evening, March 12. The Opening Party provides your first big opportunity to hob-nob with your fellow attendees in a relaxed atmosphere. The location for this get-together is frog design, site of some of the most spectacular evening events of SXSW past. Stay tuned for more information on the theme of the 2005 party. The Opening Party is co-presented by Playlist Magazine and frog design.

AMODA presents a hi-tech lounge / art party / live music event, featuring video projections, digital prints, interactive installations, solo laptop musicians, DJ's, and full bands. Musicians include SmashTV (Berlin, Germany), Mission Giant (Denton, TX) and many more. Visual artists include Justin Manor (Boston, MA), Ryan Molloy (Austin, TX) and many more.

2005 SXSW Web Awards Ceremony

The Web Awards Ceremony is the centerpiece of evening events at the SXSW Interactive Festival. For 2005, we'll have a new and improved pre-party food and beverage setup. The ceremony itself will also have a slightly different flavor as compared to past events, as standup comedian and former "Unscrewed with Martin Sargent" co-host Laura Swisher will bring her wacky sense of humor to the role of emcee. The SXSW Web Awards are presented by Style Master.

It's an evening of personal expression onstage, and the first drink is on us. Admission $5, badgeholders enter free.

A celebration of masochistic cuisine. Join a loose confederation of geeks to share the tears of joy that only come from experiencing Austin's newfound underground tradition: nuclear tacos. That's the premise of 20x2, which celebrates its fifth SXSW. Join us as participants answer the question "What's the Word?"

Enspire creates innovative e-learning solutions, simulations, interactive multimedia and serious games. Sterling's massive, end-of-SXSW blowouts are legendary, providing attendees a unique atmosphere to re-hash the good, the band, and the ugly of SXSW.
